As my previous blog stated (below - @ 11pm), I had heard Muckler might be gone, now my source has told me he may be given another chance....not to sure what is going on right now...will report more when I hear more.

I think you gotta give Muckler 1 more trade...see if he can pull soemthing off to spark this team....
Last night was just horrible and i think something has to be done before the puck drops tomorrow evening vs Atlanta
Lets hope something is done soon, either with Muckler or with a trade. If its a trade it better be more valuable than the Arnason trade.
Hey SensInsider,
Glad to see you have switched your opinion of Volchenkov. As I've been saying all along you do not trade young d-men.
As for Muckler, he has made 3 major mistakes in the off season. 1. He has over paid Spezza by at least 1.5 million a year. 2. Paying Gerber 3.7 million a year for three years and 3. Giving Joe Corvo a 4 year deal for 10.5 million.
With this money Muckler could have kept Chara or Havlat and you could have had Hasek for 500k. It's time for Muckler to go. He should announce his retirement immediately.
I agree with o-town...Muckler should resign, and Murray should take the reigns as GM and make the changes this team has needed for a long time.
I also have changed my tune on Volchenkov - he's definitely a top 4 d-man and it would be a mistake to trade him.
Doesn't a lot of the blame lay with Murray? I don't object to seeing Muckler go but I really don't think Murray should be coach any longer. When your PP is dead last in the league that's a coaching problem no?
Is there a system at play here? I haven't seen any consistant system the Sens use. I understand that Martin's system was too constraining for such an offensively potent team but on the flip side Murray seems to let them just go out and play. The Sabres are an excellent example of a team executing a very strong system.
I agree with you 100% about Murray.....he should only be a GM.
it sounds like this trade is pretty definite and I do like it if it is true. I like Schubert but he definately is expendable since we have so much depth on the back end. When can be expect the trade to be finalized?
It is not official at all...I just know that CONROY is somebody they are eager for.
Insider,
When you say Schubert, prospects and picks, do you mean that is what the Sens would have to give up for one 35 year old player with 3 points in 16 games?
Schubert and a 2nd or 3rd round pick is plenty any more than that and they should have kept Bryan Smolinski who is a similar player and cheaper.
I am saying it will likely be Schubert and a prospect or a pick...one or the other....whether Conroy has 3 pts or NO points, he is still a guy who will help in the dressing room, has been through the wars and could help by playing with players slightly more mature than what he has got around him now...LA is VERY YOUNG....and not going in his direction.
Do you think that Ottawa will pick up Nedved from Philadelphia off waivers? $750k per year for Nedved isn't bad and we'd also be getting a veteran player
I haven't heard anything yet about that....I think that would be a BAD move.
You never know with Muckler though....
I think Philly called him up to replace Carter, as he will be out 6 weeks. For 750K Philly doesn't mind having him to call up.
O-town
I love it when people think Muckler could have kept Redden and Chara, it just wasn't going to be possible.
And why in gods name would you want Hasek? he was a great gamble once, but it ended up costing the Senators when he got injured, why gamble a second time when you know what the end result will most likely be?
I think Corvo is a great addition to the team. he not only plays a great defensive game, but he is extremely valuable when it comes to offense as well.
In the end however, there are more moves recently by Muckler that I don't agree with than moves I do agree with.
Here's hoping for the best!
Broken Bones,
I really do think that the Sens could have kept Redden and Chara. Take a look at Anaheim. They are paying a combined 13 million for their top 2 d-men. Now for both Redden and Chara to stay, Phillips would have probably been sacrificed and of course Chara would have had to take 6.5 million to stay. All I go on is what I've read and they say he would have stayed in Ottawa for less if it was offered.
As for Hasek, it probably would not have been as big a gamble as last year. Emery and Hasek would have split the games and the Sens I believe are confident in Emery. So if Hasek pulled out again, then they could go and get someone at the deadline as a backup to Emery.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Corvo. The only thing that scares me is that Phillips, Meszaros and Volchenkov are all going to get raises. Phillips will definitely get 3 to 3.5 next year.
I really hope I'm wrong but I have this sick feeling that things may get worse before they get better.
this is embarrasing
Gerber is horrible...
