Gaining Ground
Well, finally the team that we all expected from the start has shown up.
The teams overall play has been great as we all know. They are playing with tons of confidence and are now communicating more.
For once I like what Murray has done. He has found a winning combination of lines and has really kept to them.
I love Kelly on the first line. He provides that extra defensive ability to the ever so strong Heatley and Spezza, who are playing well too and Kellys defensive play has rubbed off on them as they seem to be contributing at both ends of the ice.
Vermette has finally been given a chance to play OFFENSE, filling the role as the 2nd line center and doing a great job. How about that goal, simply amazing. I was fortunate enough to be sitting 10 rows up, right there to witness it.
Neil has impressed me more than ever. This guy is for real and will only get better. 100% every game....lol....
Defense is strong and the play of Emery has really come to help this team (obviously) and even though Murray still considers he and Gerber 'co-starters', we all know who 'the guy' is.
Forget any Gerber trade talks for the time being. I think they really want to see Gerber for the whole season or at least until deadline and will deal with him at latest possible time or the end of the year, where, if Emery shows he is a TRUE #1, they will move Gerber and by that time he might have more worth. Teams like Phoenix, LA, Tampa, Philly and a few others may be willing to take on half the salary or whatever the deal may be. Look for Emery to get a new contract worth at least what Gerber is making now if he keeps up the strong play. If they don't give him what he wants, next season will be his last with Ottawa. He is making a strong case for himself.
Trade talk is quiet. When they win, who wants to trade away anybody.
Yes, like I said before, Muckler will retire at the end of the year, purchase and move the ICE DOGS (OHL) and Murray will most likely be his replacement. Now who will be the next coach of the Sens, leave a comment with your thoughts.
More soon, sorry for the delays. Really busy these days.
Thanks for stopping by,

Randy Cunneyworth!
He's been doing a great job with Buffalo's AHL team in Rochester and it would be a great to see the ex captain come back!
Who wants to trade when you're winning? That's the best time for a GM to make a deal. Muckler was quoted a few weeks ago that he had too many "friends" to make a deal when the team was losing. I'm still hoping the Sens bring in another top line forward to play with Spezza and Heatley. Chris Kelly on the top line? Don't you remember how many quality scoring chances Kelly squandered in the playoffs last year playing on the top line? Kelly is a quality 4th line centre in the NHL - nothing more, nothing less.
Also, I think the Sens would move Gerber and his contract for a bag of pucks right now...otherwise, keeping all of Emery, Volchenkov and Phillips beyond this season will be impossible.
I would like to see Cunneyworth too. As for making a trade, you do not move players when they are winning....Especially if its mid-season....closer to the deadline you can probably add a player without subtracting.
As for end of year, I do believe Gerber will probably be gone, maybe at the deadline - but Emery cannot go anywhere, he is an RFA, Volch and Phillips will be a tough decision with Gerber on the payroll, I agree, but if they establish Emery as #1, then he will surely want what Gerber got, give or take a couple hundred thousand. So regardless, you do not lose that heavy salary. Gerber could go, but they are still in a tough bind to get everyone resigned. Phillips, I believe will resign with Ottawa and take slightly less to stay here....he might be interested in playing for a Western Team, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton...but his famil is well established here and I have heard that he loves Ottawa.
Only time will tell.
"Chris Kelly on the top line? Don't you remember how many quality scoring chances Kelly squandered in the playoffs last year playing on the top line?"
I agree 100%
Kelly never played on the top line last year....I'm confused.
He did, during the playoffs.
Larry Robinson or Pat Burns! These guys have won stanley cups! Thats the key element. They need playoff experience as well as playoff success behind the bench. Cunnyworth if those two aren't available, but I'm sure Buffalo wants to keep him in their system, since he's been there so long and has coached most of the players that are on the Sabers roster. Go Sens Go!!!
Word on Alfredsson ?
Word on Alfredsson ?
tonight was a good example of how kelly is useless on the top line ...I don't understand murray
How much do we miss alfredsson ?
A TON !!!!
Are we going to go in to panic mode again?
Trade rumors going to start swirling?
The Sens management better do something...Gerber is an embarassment and the team has no scoring depth up front.
this goaltending problem is bad... this guy has no confidence and nothing seems to help him build it. please god let them get rid of him.
WOW, Emery is showing his worth to the team and so is SPEZZA, this guy is playing with a ton of confidence. I will have a blog soon, I have been real real busy these days.
I am still reading comments though.
Thx.

Emery is the MAN! Gerber is good trade bait for a team looking for a goaltender at the trade deadline. Would like to see them make a move before then though, only to be able to establish good chemistry with whom ever they get in return. I was hoping for a trade with Pheonix where we would get Nagy or Doan. Can't see that happening anymore though. They do need that second line center though. Alfredsson's absence is evidence enough. They can't do shit on that line without him.
Gerber good trade bait? LOL...nobody will touch that awful contract.
Yeah, Gerber must be considered damaged goods by now. When you add the size of his contract into the calculation who would want him???
How brutal was that last night!
Where are the inside rumors? Isn't that why we check this blog?
I check this blog to laugh at people who get angry at an anonymous blogger for not updating something he does for free.
i agree with what anonymous said, stop getting pissed off at a guy who does this for free and on his own time.
Sorry guys, its Christmas and Im just getting set for the busy season. After X-MAS and in the new year I will be blogging frequently. Thanks.
I will TRY to have something after Buffalo, I caught wind of a potential trade at the deadline, I will get more info on that and then report it.

What a difference Alfredsson makes!
I sure hope he retires a Sen!
